Your Royal Coach Awaits: British Tourism Booms Ahead of Jubilee Weekend

26/05/2022

The UK’s fastest growing coach provider, FlixBus, has reported a 55% uplift in online searches for travel around the country, as it unveils its unique Jubilee coach for the upcoming long bank holiday weekend, 2 – 5 June.

The world’s leading green coach brand, which officially launched in the UK last year, has said consumer appetite for travel has risen rapidly, and expects this to further increase in the coming days, as citizens seek to celebrate 70 years of Her Majesty’s reign.

In honour of Queen Elizabeth II, FlixBus has revealed its Jubilee coach, paying homage to the royal heritage of Great Britain, complete with crown, Queen’s Guard, Elizabeth Tower and Buckingham Palace imagery.

The bus was unveiled at London’s Victoria Coach Station, which is also celebrating its 90th anniversary this year.

The regal coach will become a regular member of FlixBus’ fleet following its grand reveal, providing daily travel for passengers. Consumers will be able to spot the bus on routes around Birmingham, Manchester, and London.

Bank Holiday - without breaking the bank

Despite rising prices in a number of sectors including fuel, electricity and food, coach travel remains remarkably affordable. FlixBus ticket prices start from just £2.99 to over 30 destinations in England, Scotland and Wales.

Andreas Schorling, Managing Director of FlixBus UK said: “We know consumers are concerned about the soaring cost of living, but we’re offering unbeatable prices on travel. The majority of our customers journey with us to visit friends and family, and we want everyone to have the opportunity to spend time with loved ones during this once-in-a-lifetime weekend.”

What’s On

FlixBus has seen over 100% surge in demand for travel to London, Nottingham, Bradford and Preston, with major cities Leeds up by 80%, and Manchester 64%.

The nation’s capital will naturally play host to some of the biggest Jubilee events, including The Queen's Birthday Parade (Trooping the Colour) and the Platinum Party At The Palace concert.

Revellers can also find a special Queen's Jubilee Sunday Lunch at Thornbury Castle in Bristol, street parties across Leeds city centre or try Sheffield’s annual Food Festival.

Other options include a visit to historic All Saints Church in Shard End, Birmingham, recently given protected status to celebrate Queen's Platinum Jubilee, and The Manchester Flower Show, which will take place across the four day weekend.

Schorling added: “We are proud to serve the people of Great Britain this Platinum Jubilee weekend. Passengers can expect a royal service from our operators, who will be working overtime to ensure everyone is able to attend events and celebrate in style.”
