04/07/2023

The fastest growing coach provider in the UK, FlixBus, has promoted Rukia Ali to Stations Manager at London’s Victoria Coach Station.

Rukia, originally from Djibouti, has lived in London for over 10 years and will take on this new role to manage the company’s expanding footprint in the capital at the busiest coach station in the country.

Having worked for FlixBus since December 2021, Rukia has quickly become an invaluable member of the team, responsible for customer experience.

She will continue to oversee national and international journeys from the station, liaising with drivers and operations staff from across the UK, France and Benelux and supporting passengers as they travel.

In addition, she will mentor and manage the team of FlixBus customer service agents, as well as working closely with coach operators and Transport for London (TfL) to ensure efficient and smooth service across the network.

Having spent a number of years also living in the Netherlands, Rukia is fluent in Dutch, while the wider team at Victoria Coach station speaks a total of nine languages.

FlixBus UK Station Manager Rukia Ali said: “I’m really excited to be stepping into a new role and helping my team to continue offering passengers the best possible experience when travelling with FlixBus.

“Working in the UK’s busiest coach station is really exciting and it’s great to see more green FlixBus vehicles coming through, as our network grows in the UK and internationally!”

Offering travel to over 50 UK destinations as well as international routes to Paris, Amsterdam and Brussels, sustainable coach provider FlixBus has seen a 194% increase in demand in Q1 of 2023 compared to the same period in 2022.

Team Lead of Operations for FlixBus UK, Hayley Russell added: “With the FlixBus UK network rapidly expanding, our team of agents has also grown to support the huge number of passengers travelling with FlixBus.

“Rukia has shown a passion and talent for exceptional customer service since her first day at FlixBus, and there is no better person than her to be stepping into this new role to guide the team and maintain the levels of excellence we offer customers.”

Rukia was profiled as a key agent at the station for TfL’s 90th-anniversary celebration of Victoria Coach Station in 2022.

“Rukia has achieved so much in such a short space of time, and I hope others can take inspiration from her example. We are proud to have a diverse team in the coach station and a majority female UK operations team at FlixBus, and we will continue to strive to bring more women into the industry as we grow,” added Hayley.
