FlixBus Wins Best Bus Service at National Transport Awards
The UK’s fastest-growing coach brand, FlixBus, was crowned Best Bus Service at the National Transport Awards.
The prize was awarded for the launch of FlixBus’s dedicated Scottish network last year in partnership with McGill’s.
Since the launch of Glasgow - Aberdeen last summer, the network in Scotland has grown five-fold, now offering frequent connections between Aberdeen, Dundee, Dunfermline, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Perth and Stirling.
The partnership provides passengers with cross-border services between Scotland and England, offering direct routes to and from major cities including Manchester, London and Bristol.
Managing Director of FlixBus UK Andreas Schorling said: “To be recognised as the Best Bus Service in the whole of the UK is simply incredible and we’re so proud of the high-quality service we’re providing together with McGill’s. Our partnership has gone from strength to strength, with the fivefold increase of our network in Scotland this year.”
“FlixBus is on a mission to become the largest coach provider in the country, and this is a brilliant achievement on that journey when we only launched the UK two years ago. Our obsession with quality and customer experience has allowed us to get here today.”
Delivered by the UK’s largest independent bus operator McGill’s, the partnership with FlixBus has flourished since 2021.
Offering consistent quality, the Aberdeen – Glasgow service is regularly the best-rated in the entire FlixBus global network of over 1,000 partners and 5,500 destinations in 42 countries.
Based on customer ratings, McGill’s driver Glenn Taylor from Aberdeen was also named FlixBus UK’s Driver of the Year.
Ralph Roberts, Chief Executive of McGill’s commented: “This award is dedicated to the drivers, operational teams and everyone at McGill’s who works to deliver outstanding services for FlixBus customers.
“There has been a shift in the Scottish transport industry since FlixBus’s arrival in the market, and we’re proud to be working with such a dynamic and ambitious company seeking to revolutionise coach travel.”
Leading travel tech company FlixBus surpassed the two million UK passenger milestone earlier this year and now boasts 60 UK destinations on its network.
“Scotland, and the whole of the UK, deserves sustainable transport at an affordable price, delivering 365 days a year. We’re proving it is possible to provide these things while keeping the service at an extremely high quality,” Schorling added.
NEC holders travel for free on FlixBus’s Scottish network. Tickets start from £2.99 and can be purchased from www.flixbus.co.uk or the FlixBus App.
